Our Story
BORN IN A BUCKET
It started in 2022 when Spencer Penkaty and Mason Znamenacek — both freshmen — showed up to their first track season together. After a meet in Delta, CO, they stopped at a local taco restaurant that was selling old sour cream buckets out front.
They bought a couple on a whim and started throwing their track gear in them — spikes, snacks, equipment. The bucket worked perfectly. Weather-resistant, stackable, sturdy enough to sit on between events. It became their thing at every meet.
By 2023, Zach Ridpath joined as a freshman. In 2024, Alex Kirch came on as a junior. Four founding members, one bucket, and the name wrote itself.
Now the Bucket Boys are bigger than ever — and the bucket is still on the infield.
2022
The Beginning
Spencer & Mason start freshman year. The bucket is discovered in Delta, CO after a track meet.
2023
Zach Joins
Zach Ridpath joins as a freshman, bringing mid-distance to the crew.
2024
Alex Joins
Alex Kirch joins as a junior, adding sprints and rounding out the founding four.
Now
The Crew Grows
New members, same bucket. Gabe, Kyan, and Matthew carry it forward.
